How to support participation and quality contribution on websites for crowdsourcing cultural heritage

Crowdsourcing initiatives that involve cultural heritage collections have not always been cost-effective. In addition to common project constraints such as limited time, resources and expertise, project teams have been challenged by a scarcity of guidance to inform website design and evaluation. At this year’s National Digital Forum conference I discussed the aspects of design that influence participation and contribution quality, and the common strengths and weaknesses of current design practice.
